Influence of stress on the auditory system<\/b><\/h3>\n

The aim of the research project was to investigate the effect of stress on the auditory system of rats. Initial results demonstrated that a 24-hour stress exposure resulted in transient hypersensitivity in the ear; in some species, hearing did not return to baseline even a week later. The scientists therefore suspect that the duration and intensity of stress-induced hearing disorders and changes in the auditory system could depend on the genotype of the animals, for which special preventive measures would then have to be developed as a consequence.<\/span><\/p>\n

The research project was funded by the HEINZ UND HEIDE D\u00dcRR STIFTUNG for a period of three years (2012-2015).<\/span><\/p>\n
