World Alzheimer’s Day: Social Isolation as a Risk Factor for Dementia

People who live in social isolation for extended periods have a significantly higher risk of dementia. What else do we know about this condition? This year, Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI) and the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) have launched the World Alzheimer Report 2024 Survey. It aims to be the largest worldwide survey ever conducted on attitudes and beliefs about dementia, involving people with dementia, their caregivers, healthcare professionals, and the general public. As part of our efforts, we have developed the “Tinnitus & Dementia” education program, featuring targeted information, explanatory videos, and counselling services. Our goal is to raise awareness about the importance of regular hearing tests, the benefits of using hearing aids when necessary, and suitable exercises to enhance cognitive performance.
