“I have been a tinnitus sufferer myself since the summer of 2006. For many years a noise in my ear, stronger on the left than on the right, I call it my flutist in my ear, squeaking into an overdriven microphone, continuously. During the day it is possible to suppress the noise, it is lost in everyday life. But in the evening and at night, when it gets quieter, it can become unbearable, and I then have to concentrate on other things so as not to notice it. “Basically, there’s nothing you can do,” the ENT doctor said on the first visit. But in order to eventually do something about tinnitus, I think research on it is so important.”
