A resounding success: The patient symposium “Tinnitus – From Research to Practice,” held as part of the International TRI Conference in Berlin
On 18. September 2026, we welcomed around 120 participants to the auditorium of the Campus Charité Mitte. This year, the public event was organized by the German Tinnitus League and the Tinnitus Center of Charité – University Medicine, with the kind support of our foundation. We were thrilled by the fantastic response!
The presentations, personal accounts, and insights into current therapies and diagnostic approaches were very well received. Each lecture was followed by short Q&A, enabling the symposium to serve as an impactful platform for exchange among those affected, their friends and families, and others.
- Bernd Strohschein (Board of Directors, Deutsche Tinnitus-Liga e. V., Wuppertal) shed light on tinnitus from the perspective of those affected, providing insights into the worlds and experiences of individuals living with tinnitus.
- Dr. Petra Brüggemann (Tinnituszentrum, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin) presented on the topic “Stress – Why Can It Lead to Tinnitus?”
- Dr. Stamatina Psatha (Tinnituszentrum, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin) delivered her lecture on tinnitus diagnostics.
- Dr. Frank Matthias Rudolph (Praxis für Verhaltenstherapie Boppard) joined digitally and shared valuable information on co-existing conditions related to tinnitus.
- Dr. Helmut Schaaf (Tinnitus Clinic Dr. Hesse, Bad Arolsen) focused on hearing aids, discussing their medical evidence.
- Dr. Eberhard Biesinger (HNO-Praxis, Lindenberg) explained why the cervical spine can sometimes be a cause of tinnitus and presented treatment approaches.
- Prof. Dr. Dr. Gerhard Goebel (Neurozentrum Prien, Prien am Chiemsee) shared new findings on misophonia and hyperacusis.
We sincerely thank all speakers and this year’s participants for their dedication, and hope to have taken another step toward open communication about current tinnitus research and effective treatments!
Stay tuned for updates on the next patient symposium planned for 2027.
