The Foundation Tinnitus and Hearing Charité is involved in three areas: research funding, science communication, prevention and education. Through our research projects, we gain new insights into the development and treatment of tinnitus and other hearing impairments. We honor outstanding work by young scientists with the Research Prize Tinnitus & Hearing. We promote the exchange of experts at our international congresses and symposia. We advocate hearing protection through our information campaigns and prevention projects.

The foundation was established in 2011 at the Tinnitus Center Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin as the “German Tinnitus Foundation Charité”. The center is the leading one of its kind in Germany and has been treating tinnitus patients for 26 years.

In 2019, the foundation’s objectives were realigned and the focus of the foundation’s work was expanded to include the topic of hearing. Since then, it has been a central concern of ours to focus our communication work not only on tinnitus alone, but also to sensitize the public to the fascination of hearing as a whole. In addition, we provide information about other diseases of the inner ear, such as hearing loss, Meniere’s disease or hyperacusis, and promote research in these areas as well.

The work of the foundation is only possible because many individuals and companies are personally committed to the goals of the foundation and support us through donations, sponsorship and, above all, great voluntary commitment. Our thanks go to all of you!
